About Us  Touching up a new flag |
Regimental Colors Inc is a family business. It is a collaboration between my brother, as the artist, laying out and creating the Regimental flags and myself, the historian, reenactor and eternal Civil War student who's job is overseeing operations and producing the National colors. Much time, travel and close study and the actual hand's on inspection of many original flags was necessary to understand the art of making them. Our Flags We strive to make each flag as close to the original as humanly possible. This starts with a base flag made of proper wt. silk and continues on with the application of stars, regimental ID and battle honors in resin paint, silk fringe, canvas lined sleeve, silk cord and tassel. Finally, the flag is matched with an ash staff w/ solid brass finial and placed in a regimentally marked stout canvas flag case. When a flag leaves our studio it carries with it the reputation of our company as well as the history of the regiment it represents. We love history and we love what we do. We put that into each flag. |

It is our desire to provide a flag "of museum quality and excellent value" for the historian, museum or re-enactor. Many of our customers will be the Civil War buff/family historian who wants the flag his great, great grandfather marched and fought under to display and pass on. They are machine sewn as were most of the Civil War banners. They are also assembled and painted in the US as were the originals. Of course, the material is, as it was then, obtained overseas…
We are not a mass producer of flags and never want to be. It would not suit our methodical process to do that and the result would show it. We want you to gasp with approval as the wind takes the silk for the first time. Time Periods covered (at this time): We will make flags to order from the following US military periods: American - Mexican War of 1846-48 US Civil War 1861-65 |
